The Sacrament of the Altar<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the Lord\u2019s Supper, we receive the\u00a0true body and blood <\/strong>of Jesus Christ.\u00a0\u00a0This is received in, with, and under the elements of\u00a0bread and wine<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0Given and shed for you, for the forgiveness of sins and the strengthening of your union with Christ and with one another.\u00a0\u00a0Our Lord invites to His Table those who trust His words, seek forgiveness, and forgive those who sin against them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Lord\u2019s Supper is also a confession of the faith confessed at this altar and proclaimed at the pulpit. Because we care that no one is harmed spiritually (see 1 Cor. 11:17-34), we practice closed communion<\/strong>. So, any who are not yet baptized, or not instructed in the faith, or who belong to a church holding to a confession differing from that of this parish or Lutheran Church Canada and yet wish to receive the Sacrament are asked first to speak with the Pastor. Those wishing to receive a blessing at the altar may indicate so by crossing the arms over the chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
