{"id":1264,"date":"2019-03-26T18:51:47","date_gmt":"2019-03-27T00:51:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/redeemerlutheranchurch.ca\/?page_id=1264"},"modified":"2025-03-25T12:12:53","modified_gmt":"2025-03-25T18:12:53","slug":"a-path-worth-taking","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/redeemerlutheranchurch.ca\/?page_id=1264","title":{"rendered":"A Path Worth Taking"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By Pastor James Fritsche<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When visiting China some years ago, Nancy and I visited a beautiful building called the \u201cTemple of Heaven\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;Officially it\u2019s known as the \u201cHall of Prayer for Good Harvests.&nbsp;&nbsp;It is where the emperor would go twice a year to offer sacrifices for good harvests.&nbsp;&nbsp;Approaching the temple, you see a raised pathway.&nbsp;&nbsp;Only the emperor was permitted to travel on this pathway.&nbsp;&nbsp;Only the emperor could enter the center door of the temple.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus Christ traveled a road that no one else could ever travel.&nbsp;&nbsp;It\u2019s often called the&nbsp;<em>Via Dolorosa&nbsp;<\/em>or \u201croad of sorrows\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;It was a solitary journey that led him from the upper room on Maundy Thursday, to Gethsemane where He prayed and was betrayed by Judas and arrested.&nbsp;It took him before the Sanhedrin where He was condemned, to Pontius Pilate\u2019s palace where He was judged, to the courtyard where he was flogged by Roman soldiers.&nbsp;&nbsp;The path of suffering continued through the streets of Jerusalem to Golgotha where our Lord was crucified.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ultimately that path ended at the tomb, sealed with a heavy stone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s where the\u00a0<em>Via Dolorosa<\/em> ended.\u00a0\u00a0But our Lord\u2019s journey continued when, on the third day, He burst forth from the tomb and proclaimed His victory over death and the grave.\u00a0\u00a0We invite you to join us on this amazing journey and celebrate Jesus suffering, death, and resurrection.\u00a0\u00a0Holy Week services will be held on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.\u00a0\u00a0Check our calendar for dates and times.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Pastor James Fritsche When visiting China some years ago, Nancy and I visited a beautiful building called the \u201cTemple [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-1264","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/redeemerlutheranchurch.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1264","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/redeemerlutheranchurch.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/redeemerlutheranchurch.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/redeemerlutheranchurch.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/redeemerlutheranchurch.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=1264"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"http:\/\/redeemerlutheranchurch.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1264\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":4496,"href":"http:\/\/redeemerlutheranchurch.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/pages\/1264\/revisions\/4496"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/redeemerlutheranchurch.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=1264"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
