About Redeemer

In 1928 the first seeds of Redeemer were planted when Grace Lutheran in Edmonton was approached about the possibility of starting a Sunday school in the then-new Ritchie area. In 1929 a local Methodist church was bought and dedicated that November 17. For many years Grace helped foster Redeemer, through debt problems and when the old building became gradually unsafe by the late 1930s. In 1953 plans were made for a new building, and the present Redeemer Church was dedicated on May 30, 1954. On March 20, 1983, a further expansion was dedicated of the new sanctuary. Through many pastors and the help of many hands, Redeemer Lutheran Church has thrived through the grace of God for nearly a century.
